About This Game

Score points with dice combinations, then decide to bank or push your luck. First to 10,000 wins.

How to Play

**Setup:** Six dice.

**Scoring Dice:**

  • 1 = 100 points
  • 5 = 50 points
  • Three of a kind = 100 × face value (three 1s = 1000)
  • Four of a kind = double three of a kind
  • 1-2-3-4-5-6 straight = 1500 points
  • Three pairs = 1500 points

**Gameplay:**

  1. Roll all six dice. Set aside scoring dice
  2. Must set aside at least one scoring die each roll
  3. Choose to bank your points or roll remaining dice
  4. Rolling and scoring nothing = "Farkle" (lose all unbanked points)
  5. Using all six dice lets you roll all six again

**Winning:** First to 10,000 points wins.

History & Background

Dice 10000 (also known as Farkle, Greed, or Hot Dice) evolved from traditional scoring dice games that have existed for centuries. The specific 10,000-point target version became popular in America during the 20th century.

The game goes by dozens of regional names, with each community claiming their version is "authentic." This fragmentation suggests organic, parallel development rather than a single inventor.

Dice 10000 gained significant popularity in the 2000s through digital versions, particularly on Facebook and mobile phones. These apps introduced millions to the game who had never played the physical version.

The game's push-your-luck mechanic - deciding whether to bank safe points or risk them for more - represents one of gaming's most fundamental decision types. Psychologists have used Dice 10000 to study risk tolerance and decision-making under uncertainty.
